Current situation of copper containing wastewater treatment

Wastewater containing a large amount of copper ions is often generated in processes such as chemical engineering, printing and dyeing, electroplating, non-ferrous smelting, non-ferrous metal mining, electronic material washing wastewater, and dye production.

Due to the different processes involved in wastewater generation, the presence, mass concentration, and composition of copper ions in copper containing wastewater also vary greatly.

The pollutants in the copper containing wastewater generated during the electroplating production process, such as copper sulfate, sulfuric acid, copper pyrophosphate, etc., have a mass concentration of below 100mg/L and 50mg/L; The copper containing wastewater generated during the production process of circuit boards includes copper etching solution and washing wastewater, with a mass concentration of 130-150mg/L and below 20mg/L; The mass concentration of copper containing wastewater in dye production is 1291mg/L; Copper containing wastewater from Copper Mine Mountain has a mass concentration of tens to hundreds of milligrams per liter.

The copper ions present in copper containing wastewater can be classified into divalent copper ions and monovalent copper ions according to their valence states, as well as free copper (such as Cu2+) and complexed copper (such as copper cyanide complexes, copper ammonia complexes, etc.) according to their existing forms.

The treatment of various types of copper containing wastewater by general copper processing enterprises can usually be divided into two categories; One is to convert dissolved heavy metals in wastewater into insoluble metal compounds or elements, which are removed from the acidic wastewater through precipitation and flotation, such as neutralization precipitation method, sulfide precipitation method, flotation separation method, electrolytic precipitation (or flotation) method, membrane electrolysis method, etc.

The second method is to concentrate and separate heavy metals in wastewater without changing their chemical form. Applicable methods include reverse osmosis, electrodialysis, evaporation, and adsorption.

These methods should be used separately or in combination according to the quality and quantity of wastewater.

Product introduction

Due to the current treatment methods for copper containing wastewater, such as neutralization and sedimentation, which have poor effluent efficiency, especially for copper removal, there is a need for a more economical and in-depth treatment method to meet the needs of enterprises

In response to the problems faced by enterprises, Haipu Functional Materials has developed an adsorption resin product based on the characteristics of typical industry wastewater quality and treatment processes - copper removal resin

[Product] Copper Removal Resin

Haipu copper removal resin products have excellent physical and chemical stability and are suitable for copper removal and recovery.

While achieving good copper removal effect, this material is easy to regenerate and has strong anti pollution ability, with a long service life.

Haipu's multiple copper removal resin products can meet the needs of applications in electroplating, non-ferrous smelting, non-ferrous metal mining, electronic material rinsing wastewater, dye production, and other processes that often generate wastewater containing a large amount of copper ions.

Product supporting process

Haipu copper removal resin can deeply adsorb and remove copper from wastewater, and the removal rate of copper ions is stable at over 90%. When combined with relevant adsorption processes to treat wastewater, most of the copper ions in the wastewater are adsorbed and removed, and the copper ions are transferred to the desorption solution, which facilitates the subsequent recovery of by-products, meets customer discharge requirements, and does not produce secondary pollution, ensuring the normal operation of the enterprise.

When using Haipu's copper removal resin combined with adsorption technology to treat wastewater, the wastewater is pre filtered to remove suspended and particulate matter, and then enters the adsorption tower for adsorption. The resin material filled in the adsorption tower can adsorb copper in the wastewater on the surface of the material, greatly reducing the copper ions in the effluent. After adsorption saturation, specific desorption agents are used to desorb the adsorbent material, allowing it to regenerate, and this process is continuously repeated.

Product and its supporting process characteristics

In response to the above processing requirements, Haipu's copper removal resin products and their supporting processes have the following advantages:

Simple process: Simple process, easy operation, low labor intensity, small footprint, low investment.

Excellent craftsmanship: capable of implementing modular component forms, flexible adjustment according to production capacity, high degree of automation, short process flow, and low energy consumption.

Low cost: Low operating cost, stable and reliable treatment effect, able to withstand certain water quality fluctuations and impacts.

Green and environmentally friendly: mild usage conditions, long equipment lifespan, simple maintenance, minimal subsequent investment, no hazardous waste generated in the process, no secondary pollution, making it a green and environmentally friendly solution.

Product application effect

Haipu copper removal resin products and their supporting combination processes have helped multiple customers meet their copper containing wastewater treatment needs.

01

Application Case 1

A new copper acid water adsorption treatment facility will be built, with a total designed wastewater treatment capacity of 100m³/d. The high copper ion content in the copper acid water cannot meet production requirements and affects the stable production of the enterprise.

Application Case 2

The wastewater generated in the electroplating workshop contains 5-10 mg/L copper, which cannot be discharged in compliance with standards. Treatment requirements: copper<0.3 mg/L.

The processing result is as follows

Water volume(m³/d)Copper(mg/L)pH
Raw water300 t/d6.48 ppm~6
Effluent300 t/d~0.2~6

Application Case 3

A electroplating industrial park generates 1125t of cyanide copper wastewater every day, with copper and nickel ions exceeding the standard. Our company's special adsorption materials are used to design the process for this wastewater, and a multi-stage comprehensive treatment process is implemented.

The nickel and copper ions in the end adsorbed effluent can be stabilized below 0.1mg/L and 0.3mg/L, respectively, meeting the requirements of the enterprise. The effluent can be directly sent to the middle water tank in the plant area for further treatment.
