Purification and Removal of Cadmium from Nickel Cobalt Sulfate Solution

In the production process of industrial cobalt sulfate, solid materials of nickel cobalt hydroxide are usually dissolved in sulfuric acid, filtered, and purified to obtain high-purity cobalt sulfate solution.


Due to the presence of metal elements such as copper, manganese, zinc, calcium, magnesium, chromium, and cadmium in the solid material of nickel cobalt hydroxide, the leaching solution undergoes P204 impurity removal and P507 cobalt magnesium separation to obtain cobalt sulfate solution. However, due to the characteristics of cadmium element, cadmium element is enriched in the cobalt sulfate solution, which affects the quality of the cobalt sulfate solution.


Because cobalt sulfate and nickel sulfate are important raw materials for preparing batteries, purification and impurity removal of the solution are particularly crucial for producing qualified cobalt sulfate/nickel sulfate products. Generally, the cadmium content in the nickel cobalt sulfate solution is required to be less than 0.05g/L.
