Recently, our company successfully completed the acceptance of a pesticide intermediate wastewater treatment project for a client, and the system has been handed over for client operation. This wastewater is generated from the production of a series of insecticide pesticide anhydride intermediates by the enterprise. It mainly contains benzoic acid organic compounds, with a COD content as high as 12,000 mg/L, a salt content close to 20%, ammonia nitrogen around 800 mg/L, and a deep color, making it difficult to treat. A few years ago, due to environmental pressures, the enterprise relocated from southern Jiangsu to a chemical park in northern Jiangsu to seek "sustainable development." However, with the implementation of the new Environmental Protection Law and the increased scrutiny from central and local environmental inspections, the "three wastes" discharge standards will not vary due to regional economic development differences. Therefore, this wastewater must be effectively treated to ensure the enterprise's true sustainable development.
Adhering to the concept of "wastewater treatment and resource recovery," and combining our company's special adsorption materials and auxiliary oxidation processes, we successfully developed a solution for the treatment of this wastewater and the recovery of benzoic acid organic compounds and inorganic salts. After on-site pilot verification, an industrial application device was successfully constructed. After treatment, the wastewater appears colorless, with TOC ≤ 10 mg/L, mainly consisting of inorganic salt sodium chloride, which is used for ion membrane caustic soda production.
