Titanium dioxide is mainly used in the fields of coatings, plastics, paper, printing, etc. The main processes for producing titanium dioxide at home and abroad include sulfuric acid method, chlorination method, and hydrochloric acid method. Among them, sulfuric acid method is the most important method for producing titanium dioxide, and more than 90% of enterprises in China use this method for production. For every ton of titanium dioxide produced by the sulfuric acid method, 6-8 tons of concentrated waste acid containing about 20% sulfuric acid can be generated. This type of waste acid generally contains sulfuric acid, ferrous sulfate, titanium oxide, etc. The preferred treatment solution is to separate the waste acid so that sulfuric acid and ferrous sulfate can be recycled separately.
Our company uses acid adsorbent to adsorb the titanium dioxide waste acid (20% sulfuric acid) from a titanium dioxide manufacturer in Jiangsu. The effluent is ferrous sulfate solution, which is treated appropriately to recover iron salts. The sulfuric acid solution containing titanium oxide (17% sulfuric acid) obtained by desorption with clean water can be reused in the production process of titanium dioxide. This solution has significant economic benefits, not only solving the problem of concentrated waste acid treatment, but also saving the consumption of sulfuric acid in production for manufacturers.
