#Removal of boron containing water-soluble silicon in nuclear power plants - Adding enriched boron to the primary loop of a pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant can optimize the water chemistry of the primary loop, reduce the risk of material corrosion and core deposition in the primary loop, decrease the emission of boron and activated corrosion products, and reduce the amount of solid waste generated.
But with the operation of nuclear power plants, the dissolved silicon in the boron containing water in the primary loop will accumulate year by year. The silicic acid and silicic acid colloids in the solution will form silicates with metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, and aluminum. silicates are prone to deposit on the surface of the stabilizer, steam generator heat transfer tubes, and fuel cladding, causing an increase in cladding surface temperature and increasing the risk of fuel cladding damage, endangering the safety of the unit.
Enriched boron is expensive, and in order to improve the economy of nuclear power plants, it is necessary to take effective measures to remove dissolved silicon from the primary boron containing water. In addition, this also helps to reduce the boron emissions of nuclear power plants and improve their environmental friendliness.
In general, the primary purification system designed for nuclear power plants uses ion exchange resin to remove impurities from boric acid solution. Due to the similar properties of silicic acid and boric acid, the ion exchange bed originally designed for nuclear power plants cannot effectively separate boron and silicon. The anion exchange resin saturated with boric acid cannot remove soluble silicon, resulting in the continuous accumulation of soluble silicon in the boric acid system of nuclear power plants.
For the treatment of boron containing water in nuclear power plants, Haipu can provide cation exchange resin to remove metal cations such as calcium, magnesium, and aluminum in the primary loop to avoid the formation of silicate precipitation. At the same time, for dissolved silicon, Haipu can provide selective removal of dissolved silicon in boron containing water with silicon removal resin. Haipu silicon removal resin is a nano hybrid adsorbent material, which has abundant nano pores and excellent hydraulic diffusion performance, ensuring fast silicon removal rate and high activity of the adsorbent.
